Bulldog
Fun fact: Bulldogs have a distinctive and lovable appearance, but did you know that they have a historical connection to a sports tradition? Bulldogs were originally bred for bull-baiting in medieval England, a popular sport where a tethered bull would face off against dogs. The bulldog's tenacity, strength, and unique gripping style made them well-suited for this task.
However, in the 19th century, as bull-baiting became illegal, people turned their attention to preserving the breed's traits in a more friendly manner. Bulldogs were selectively bred for their amiable temperament, and over time, they transformed from fierce fighters to the affectionate and loyal companions we know today. Despite their tough-looking exterior, modern bulldogs are known for being gentle, calm, and great family pets.
